Purpose
To
worship God and to promote the preaching and teaching of the Word of God
for the purpose of leading people to a personal faith in Jesus
Christ as Saviour, and for the purpose of encouraging and instructing
believers toward spiritual growth and maturity.
Core Values
1.
We value Loving God
In response to His love for us, our love for God is reflected by our love
for each other, in our private and corporate worship, and in our passionate
attitude toward Him and His priorities. He deserves our best. We stay
connected to Him through an abiding relationship, so we are able to love
Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. (Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27;
John 15: 1-17; Romans 12:1)
2.
We value Prayer
Constant communication with God is essential for us to live the lives
God desires for us. Since prayer is two-way conversation between God and
us, we need to talk to Him continuously, as well as take time to listen
for His voice, in faith believing through prayer and His Word. Prayer
must be practiced both corporately and individually, incorporating themes
of adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication. (I Thess. 5:17;
Ephesians 1:15-21; James 1:5-8; 5:13-16)
3.
We value Service
Christianity is not a spectator sport. Service is Love in action. We are
responsible for discovering, developing, and using the spiritual gifts
that the Lord has given us, so that the body of Christ may be brought
to full maturity. We measure our success by the process (the way we do
ministry) and not just the product (the ministry programs). (Matt. 25:14-30;
Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12, 14; Romans 12.)
4.
We value Evangelism
People matter to God. Therefore, we are His ambassadors to our community,
and beyond. We will be on the lookout for ways to reach out with the love
of Christ to people where they are, according to their needs, in order
to be effective in sharing the Gospel and enable them to grow in their
faith journey. We will make sacrifices for the benefit of persons seeking
a faith relationship, and adapt in order to follow God's will for His
church. (Mark 12:30-31; 1 Cor. 9:19-23; Acts 17:22-34; John 4:7-26; The
life of Jesus; Acts 4:29; 2 Cor. 3:12)
5.
We value Community
We gather corporately to worship God, to hear and share the Word of God,
to encourage and care for each other. Small groups are life-changing opportunities
for each and every one of us. We gather according to gifts, interests
and ministry. We develop caring relationships with one another, hold each
other accountable, and offer newcomers a place to belong. (1 Thess. 2:8;
Heb. 10:24-25; Acts 2:42-47; 5:42; 6:40; 20:20)
6.
We value Stewardship
Ministry takes all of what we are and what we have; our time, our effort
and our money. Joyful giving may be one of the most tangible expressions
of our faith. Consistent, considered, sacrificial giving of our treasure,
time and talents provides the resources for our church to fulfill its
mission. (Luke 12:48b; 2 Cor. 9:6-8; Mal. 3:10; Matt 13:44-45)
7.
We value Leadership
Leaders must strive to maintain a quality relationship with God, with
one another, with the Body, and beyond. Gifted servant leadership demonstrates
a humble heart toward God that is willing to hear from Him, and obey Him
regardless of the cost. It is leadership by example, requiring followers
who fully participate in the vision and mission of the church. (Psalm
37:4; Phil. 2:5f; Eph. 4:11f; Eph 6:19-20; Romans 1:16; Matt 25:25-28)
